SKLM publishes position paper: Shaping the future of food and nutrition research in Germany

In recent years, the global social challenges in the area of food and nutrition have become increasingly visible: securing the world's food supply and combating hunger, the prevention and treatment of diet-related diseases such as obesity and the environmentally and climate-friendly restructuring of agricultural and food systems. Food and nutrition research in Germany is now faced with the task of scientifically supporting and shaping these challenges and the associated transformation of the food system.

A recently published position paper by the Permanent Senate Commission on Food Safety (SKLM) of the German Research Foundation (DFG) entitled "Food and Nutrition Research in Germany" therefore recommends further strengthening this fields of research, in which universities in particular have a decisive role to play.

Jan Hengstler is currently Chairman of the SKLM.

The position paper "Food and Nutrition Research in Germany" can be found on the DFG website at (only in German): www.dfg.de/resource/blob/329680/3078be3c5e57e0d62ca9b0e985653c75/240229-sklm-bericht-2024-final-data.pdf
