Hugo Geiger Award for Dr. Jessica Schwarz

Every year, the Free State of Bavaria and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft award the Hugo Geiger Prize to honour young scientists for outstanding doctoral achievements in the field of applied research. This year, the third place goes to Jessica Schwarz for her doctorate on the topic of „Multifactorial real-time diagnosis of the user state in adaptive human-machine interaction“. IfADo researcher Prof. Dr. Gerhard Rinkenauer supervised Jessica Schwarz’s doctorate.

Digitalisation leads to increasing interactions between humans and machines. Adaptive human-machine interaction offers the opportunity to support humans in their work through machines. In this way, their strengths can be used and their weaknesses compensated for at the same time. In her doctoral thesis, Jessica Schwarz developed the multidimensional and multifactorial user state diagnosis RASMUS, which creates the prerequisites for the machine to support the human in his task in the best possible way. She deliberately set the focus on the human being. „As a psychologist, I focus on human factors in the area of human-machine interaction,“ explains Schwarz.
