Four central scientific services support the scientists at IfADo with know-how and methodical expertise.
Clinical occupational medicine (Golka)
The central scientific service “clinical occupational medicine” coordinates the (occupational) medical apprenticeship and training at the institute and also carries out the occupational health functions.
Analytical chemistry (Reinders)
The central scientific service “analytical chemistry” performs chemical analytics, including bio- and air monitoring as well as the categorization of markers of susceptibility.
The central scientific service “Cytometry” aids scientists with microbiological and cytometric work like FACS and signaltransduction.
The central unit “Systems Modeling” analyses the interdependencies between the brain, the liver and the immune system (the so-called brain-liver-immune axis). A deeper understanding of the brain-liver-immune axis is of high relevance in occupational research, since work-place related factors, stress and chemicals, as well as modifying factors, such as aging, influence its balance with major impact on cognition, emotion, motivation, behavior, and in general the delicate balance between health and disease. To generate and analyze the quantitative and spatio-temporally resolved data, the acquisition of modern analytical equipment (including Next Generation Sequencer, mass spectrometer for proteomics, ergonomics simulator Gait Realtime Analysis Interactive Lab, MRT) is required. The establishment of the central unit “Systems Modeling” has started in 2018 due to approval of the “minor item of expenditure”.
