About 220 employees investigate potentials and risks of modern work on the basis of behavioural and life sciences at the Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors (IfADo). Connection to the following organizations is essentiell for our research:
Parent organization „Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitsschutz“
The parent organization of the institute is the „Forschungsgesellschaft für Arbeitsphysiologie und Arbeitsschutz e.V., Dortmund“ which was founded in 1969. Its aim is to design work, workplaces, and working environments that serve to promote safety, health, and work abilities. The IfADo hosts the office of the German Ergonomics Society (Gesellschaft für Arbeitswissenschaft, GfA).
Affiliated Research Institute the TU Dortmund
The institute is associated with the Technical University of Dortmund and therefore involved in teaching and training. Additionally, researchers of the institute also teach at various universities in the vicinity. “Affiliated institutes are legally and economically independent extramural institutions which cooperate closely with the university on the basis of a cooperation agreement” (TU Dortmund).
Member of the Leibniz Association
The IfADo is a member of the Leibniz Association. Due to the institutes’ importance for the country as a whole, Leibniz institutions are funded jointly by the federal and state government. Every seven years the IfADo is subject to an independent evaluation procedure which is unparalleled in its transparency.
