Rudolf-Schoen-Award for Silvia Capellino

Rudolf-Schoen-Award for Silvia Capellino

At this year’s German Rheumatology Congress, Silvia Capellino and her team were awarded the Rudolph Schoen Award of the Foundation of the German Society for Rheumatology for their research on the neurotransmitter dopamine and its role in rheumatoid arthritis. The Rudolf Schoen Award is awarded every year by the German Society for Rheumatology to young scientists in the field of rheumatism research.

Silvia Capellino has been researching the influence of dopamine in rheumatoid arthritis for several years. In 2014, she published her first paper on the topic. In rheumatoid arthritis, bone resorption and bone loss are the biggest problems. By recognising that dopamine plays an important role in bone metabolism, new therapeutic approaches can be developed to control bone loss.

We are happy for her and wish her continued success.
