As part of a joint research project of the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) and the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) a comprehensive inventory of methods (‘Multilevel hazard analysis of physical load’ – ‘Mehrstufige Gefährdungsanalyse von physischen Belastungen MEGAPHYS’) for the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems shall be developed in cooperation with further partners (ArbMedErgo, ASER, EBSteinberg, IAD, IFA, TübArbMed). The spectrum of guidances, procedures, tools and methods ranges between rather coarse screnning tools and extensive measurements in factories and laboratories. Typical loading is manual materials handling – such as lifting, holding and lowering, pushing and pulling, whole-body force exertion –, repetitive work processes and intensive postures and movements.
