Smokers & Non-Smokers

We are looking for participants aged 65 and over for a study on how nicotine affects different brain functions. A remuneration of up to 400€ is possible.

Tasks & Compensation

The study runs in 6 sessions and consists of 2 parts. It includes taking medication of either placebo or varenicline, a nicotine subtype used to help smokers quit, as well as giving a small blood sample of 20mL.

The first part includes transcranial magnetic and transcranial direct current stimulation, targeting muscle and brain connections (full day). The second part includes neuroimaging (EEG) to watch your brain activity during cognitive tasks (half a day).

A nicotine abstinence of at least 10 hours before the experiment, as well as during, is required.
