Research on Brain Stimulation in Aging – Participants Wanted for Research Study

The study consists of a total of 8 sessions – 4 involving TMS-EEG (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation combined with EEG recording) and 4 involving MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).

The first appointment includes a medical check and a test session. Please plan for about one hour. During this session, participants complete some forms, receive a medical check-up, and take part in a TMS test session. We will demonstrate the procedure and let you experience the stimulation so that you can decide whether you wish to participate. All details of the study will be explained, and your questions will be answered.

If you would like to participate and no MRI scan from another experiment is available, a short MRI scan (only 6 minutes) will be conducted beforehand.

If you would like to participate only in the TMS-EEG part, please note that we must use gel. You are welcome to wash your hair on-site afterward. Each session lasts around 4 hours (including EEG setup and breaks). Measurements are taken before and after stimulation (up to 1 hour after). You will receive 192€ for this part.

If you choose to participate only in the MRI part, hair washing is not necessary afterward. The paste we use for the stimulation can be cleaned with a tissue. Each session takes around 3 hours (MRI before and MRI after stimulation) and the stimulation is done outside the MRI. You will receive 144€ for this part.

In total, participation includes eight sessions, a medical check, and a test session. For your participation, you will receive either 12€ per hour or, alternatively, subject hours (VP-hours).

The total time spent participating in all sessions, the medical check, and the test session will be compensated with approximately 348€ in total.
