Blood donors wanted: 20 Euro compensation
Freshly donated blood is regularly needed for IfADo research projects in the field of immunology. The desired cells are isolated from about 300 ml of whole blood and used for scientific purposes.
The time required for a blood donation is low and usually takes about 30 minutes. An compensation of 20 euros is paid for the blood donation.
Exclusion criteria for a blood donation are
- Acute feeling of illness (e.g. nausea, cold symptoms etc.)
- Hepatitis B infection within the last 5 years or acute hepatitis
- HIV infection
- Minor surgical intervention in the last 3 days
- Major surgery in the last 6 months
- Cardiovascular disease (including high blood pressure). If hypertension is controlled, notification to the EMF management is sufficient; coordination of the procedure is not required.
- Lung diseases (including asthma)
- Diseases of the blood or lymphatic system
- Diseases of the liver or kidneys
- Diseases of the nervous system (including epilepsy)
- Cancer
- Currently taking immunosuppressive medication or blood thinners
- Blood or plasma donation in the last 12 weeks
- Severe complaints during or after a blood donation
- Known pregnancy
- Childbirth or miscarriage in the last 6 months
- Diabetes or other metabolic diseases
- Age under 18 or over 70 years
- Vaccination less than 2 weeks ago
If none of these exclusion criteria apply to you, we look forward to your blood donation.
Donation appointments are made approximately 2 weeks in advance and are usually on Monday mornings from 8 to 9 a.m. at the IfADo (Ardeystraße 67, Dortmund).
