Study to Investigate the Effects of Toluene on Brain Function – male only!
Toluene is one of the most used organic solvents and is found in a wide variety of commercially available products like paint and cosmetics. With this study, we aim to improve knowledge of how toluene exposure affects human brain function.
The exposure is 100% safe!
The study includes three sessions in total: two TMS sessions and one fMRI session.
Each TMS session will last about 5 hours and will involve assessments using both transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).
The fMRI session will last about 3 hours, will be conducted in the MRI scanner, and will include three behavioral tasks.
Compensation for the TMS sessions is 12 € per hour and 15 € per hour for the fMRI session. Alternatively, participant hours (VPN-hours) can be awarded for participation. For students at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), we can award a maximum of 10 VP hours, any remaining effort will be compensated financially.
