From graduate engineer to ageing researcher: Professorship for Stephan Getzmann
Stephan Getzmann has been appointed as an adjunct professor at the TU Dortmund University. The expert in ageing research has been teaching at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology since 2011. In 2010, the qualified psychologist and electrical engineer habilitated at the former Faculty of Human Sciences and Theology at TU Dortmund University.
After completing his PhD at the Ruhr University Bochum, he moved to IfADo in 2007, where he conducts research on the topic of “Auditory perception and language comprehension”. Of particular interest are the mechanisms of speech comprehension in different acoustic environments in younger and older adults. Since 2015, he has headed the IfADo networking group “Aging” and, together with his team, investigates the foundations of healthy ageing. One focus of his work is the Dortmund Vital Study.
