Michael Nitsche is one of the „Highly Cited Researchers 2024“

Prof. Dr. Michael Nitsche, Head of the Department Psychology & Neurosciences, is one of the most frequently cited scientists worldwide in his field. The neuroscientist is thus once again on the annual „Highly Cited Researchers“ list of the US company Clarivate. The company defines „Highly Cited Researchers“ as researchers who belong to the one percent of the most frequently cited scientists in their subject area.

Michael Nitsche studied psychology and medicine at the Georg-August University of Göttingen. He habilitated in the field of neurology. Since 2015, Michael Nitsche has been conducting research at IfADo, including on methods of non-invasive brain stimulation and in the field of cognitive neuroscience.

This year's ranking includes 6,636 researchers from 59 countries. With a total of 332 cited scientists, Germany ranks fourth on the list, after the USA, China and the UK. The selection was based on how often scientists have published highly cited publications. The authors of the list define “Highly Cited Papers” as publications that are among the one percent of the most frequently cited papers in a subject area and year in the “Web of Science” index.
