2nd Bollendorf Academy Discussions
Burg Bollendorf/Germany, May 10-12, 2006
The First Bollendorf Academy Discussions were held in 2004 by scientists from both IfADo, Dortmund, and BGFA, Bochum, in order to promote research cooperations between both scientific institutes (1st Bollendorf Academy Discussions).
This year, the tradition of discussing the latest bench results within an informal and relaxing atmosphere was continued. Again, scientists from both research institutes, IfADo and BGFA, met at the banks of the Sauer river at Bollendorf Academy to review research data with relevance to occupational toxicology.
The meeting place close to Luxemburg enabled scientific participation from the General Directorate Employment of the European Union. This broadened the focus of the discussions to include toxicology issues of current regulatory interest to the European Union. Social activities included an experience of the local lias sandstone cliffs.
The following topics were discussed in detail:
As a result, the general outlines and details of publications covering each of these fields were elaborated, which will be submitted to scientific journals this year.
The meeting was supported by funds from the Hauptverband der gewerblichen Berufsgenossenschaften, Sankt Augustin/Germany.
In essence, the 2nd Bollendorf Academy Discussions again fostered the close scientific cooperation between IfADo and BGFA, providing a distinct European perspectice .
It was therefore decided to continue the tradition in 2007/2008.
