This movie shows a result from a mathematical model representing a liver lobule of a mouse after intoxication with CCl4 (2g/kg body weight). Initially, a pericentral ring of hepatocytes dies due to toxicity of CCl4 (indicated by green colour). Cell death is followed by a wave of proliferation starting with hepatocytes close to the inner ring of dead cells continuing to the peripheral part of the lobule. Within a 6 days process the microarchitecture characterized by columns of hepatocytes is restored. Sinusoidal lining cells are indicated by red colour.

Models are result of cooperation between the HepatoSys members: Dirk Drasdo, Stefan Höhme, Rolf Gebhardt, Sebastian Zellmer, Wiebke Schormann, Marc Brulport, Alexander Bauer, Matthias Hermes and Jan Hengstler.
