"Changes of cognitive functions with age"
Age-related changes are mainly seen in memory and executive functions, such as attention, response inhibition and error processing. More recent studies suggest that even memory problems in elderly may be due to executive dysfunctions. Jörg Lewald conducts research in the field of spatial hearing in young vs. elderly subjects. Edmund Wascher, Nele Wild-Wall, Sven Hoffmann and Michael Falkenstein investigate cognitive changes in elderly vs. young subjects with ERP methodology. Topics cover a broad range of age-relevant functions, namely executive functions, visual spatial attention, learning and memory. The results are relevant for basic gerontological research, and have also implications for work place design and traffic participation.
