Simulation and training
The basic research of the group is completed by applied work on the training of endoscopic skills, which is done in close cooperation with the research group "Biodynamics". Endoscopic surgery tends to be associated with a couple of problems related to observation, like a low quality of the display, reduced stereoscopic viewing, poor spatial orientation, visual fatigue, and related to visuo-motor coordination, like the transformation of movements. For the training of endoscopic skills the application of anatomical models or phantoms with artificial tissue is suggested in order to improve the learning of surgical techniques.
