The research of the IfADo is based on applied as well as on basic research leading to approaches with differing contiguity to implementation and application:
The investigation of physiological mechanisms and processes is primarily based on fundamental scientific research. Here, the IfADo has special competences on the biochemical-cellular level, on the level of organic systems and on the level of behavioural research.
The evaluation of work-relevant effects on physiological processes is rather aimed at the field of application. Here, the IfADo has special competences concerning the effect of chemical, physical, chronobiological and psychosocial factors.
The IfADo plays an important role in the process of implementing scientific results for application. The various results are addressed at practitioners in companies as well as in a socio-political and legislative context. These include state and other offices concerned with regulation and standardization (e.g. DIN, CEN, ISO, AGS, MAK, EU/SCOEL), social partners, professional and industrial associations and individual companies and administrations.
Special competences of the IfADo lie in the area of configuration of working environments and working conditions in general.
Furthermore, the IfADo contributes on an international level to the scientific development of its core subjects. It is committed to enhance the scientific discipline and organisation and to support young academic professionals.
The dialog between science and politics becomes important more and more since political decisions have strong influence on the ongoing of scientific affairs. The Leibniz Association aimes therefore to bring politicians and scientists in close contact in order to enhance the informal exchange. (more...)
